In the early 90?s a buddy of mine worked at Disney Studios. During a lunch visit he said he had to drop something off in the president?s office. When we entered, he told me that the secretary was Vinnie?s wife?s good friend. I told her I was a drummer and she laughed. She said the guy is so hyper that when they go out to dinner, he has to
play drums with the knives. When driving with his wife, he has her drive so he can practice in the car. She said he has places to practice all over the house. And whatever you do, don?t go to the movies with Vinnie!

I think I wrote this before, but after a drum thing at House of Blues, Vinnie was in front of me, waiting to pick up his car from the valet. I got my car and drove out of the parking lot behind him. About a mile down the road, he throws his cigarette out the window, pulls out two sticks, and starts bashing the hell out of his steering wheel and dash. Pretty funny. Needless to say, I've started practicing in the car...

More Vinnie stuff...
At NAMM 2001, a little kid got behind a kit and started jamming. A crowd of about
thirty gathered at this little guy's abilities.
Out of nowhere, the guy yells out, "All right dude, go for it!" I looked up and it was Vinnie. He was totally into the little kids jam. As soon as he said this, about six drummers converged and their eyes were wide opened as though they had seen a deity of some kind. One guy, a big name rock drummer, went on like a little boy with his dad at a candy store. I found the "gush factor" fascinating.
Vinne was cool with it and moved to the Zildjian booth.
